Cabernet Cortis

Herkunft:
This is a red fungus resistant cross made by the Weinbauinstitut Freiburg.
Cross: Cabernet Sauvignon X (Merzling X (Saperavi severnyi X Muskat Ottonel))
Synonyme:
FR 437-82 r
Requirements to the vineyard site:
A bit lower than for Pinot noir. Ripening time is about 1 week before Pinot noir.
Spread:
Not too much, because still new. Already planted in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Romania and Russia.
Besonderheiten:
A resitant, red variety with a taste reminding to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is rich of coulour and phenols.
The young wines show strong spicy notes which need some time to get well integrated. So barrel ageing and vinification with oxygen is adviseable.
Because of the high need of magnesium, fetilization of soil and the leaves is a must.
