New Commission Regulation (EC) No 11/2002

All european varieties can also be grafted in Germany

On 14 February 2002 the new Comission Regulation (2002/11/EC) on the marketing of material for the vegetative propagation of the vine was adopted.

The German nurseries may improve now finally without annoying detours also varieties, which are not located in the German variety catalog. That means varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Sauvignon blanc can now be provided from German nurseries with a German label. Up to now a pro forma work contract with an Austrian nursery had to be closed, and thus then Austrian labels had to be used.
